THE ADVENT OF CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAMIC RELIGIONS IN ÈGBÒRÒLAND.
Christianity and Islam are the two religions mostly embraced by the citizens of Ìjẹ̀bú-Jẹ̀ṣà. A handful of people however embrace indigenous or traditional religions like Ifa, Osun, Orin, Láarọ́gàn and so on, but the devotees of those forms of religion practice them only as ceremonies or festivals. We shall discuss these in greater details later. There is no festival or ceremony like Egungun (Masquraders) and Oro as we have in some neighbouring towns like Esa-Oke, Imesi-lle, Ipetu-Ijesa and so on.
Over ninety five percent of the citizens of Ìjẹ̀bú-Jẹ̀ṣà are Christians of various denominations like, the Anglican, the African Church, the Apostolic Church, the Christ Apostolic Church, the Baptist, the Catholic, the Methodists, etc. We now present short briefs on the various denominations that are of historical significance.
