The Oluomo and Yeye Oluomo of Egboro land, Chief Olusola and Chief (Mrs) Ariyike Olu-Alabi have donated packs of personal protective materials including latex examination gloves, nose masks and hand sanitisers to the General Hospital and Maternity centre in Ijebu-Jesa.
The gestures from the couple is coming at a time the entire world is battling to contain the spread of the novel Corona Virus which is ravaging human race and forcing global economic standstill. Health workers globally are overwhelmed as the virus continue to spread like harmattan wild fire.
Presenting the items to the hospitals at the palace of Elegboro on behalf of the couple, Dr. Femi Olajuyigbe of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, noted that the couple is doing this to identify with the health workers and in appreciation of the enormity of the tasks to combat the pandemic. He added that the couple will still reach out to the community with further aids in coming weeks.
In his response, the Elegboro, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye eulogised donors for remembering their root at a time like this. He described their actions as service to humanity, the community and their Creator. He stressed that posterity never forgets such acts of kindness as he prayed God to prosper them and grant them good health.
In the same vein, the Olori ‘Lara Agunsoye Foundation (OLAF) on Monday distributed liquid soap to residents of Ijebu-Jesa in a bid to encourage constant washing of hands to prevent spread of the virus.
According to the Olori who is a retired nurse, “It is important to adhere strictly to safety directives given by health practitioners in this period. Maintaning basic personal hygiene and constant washing of hands will help in protecting us against the virus.”
She further enjoined the residents to keep their homes and surroundings clean at all time. She then prayed for a quick end to the pandemic.
