SMITH AJIFOWOBAJE CELEBRATES HIS SALORO OF EGBOROLAND CHIEFTANCY IN GRAND STYLE

The ancient town of Ijebu Jesa, Osun State, Nigeria came to a standstill as an illustrious son of the town High Chief Smith Olamilekan Olabisi Olaleye Ajifowobaje of Obaloye Dynasty celebrated his installation as Saloro of Ijebu Jesa.

The memorable event kicked start with Jumat Prayer at Ijebu Jesa Central Mosque on Friday, June 17,2022. In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ijebu Jesa Central Mosque, Mufasir Mikail Komolafe urged everyone to be of good characters. He eulogized the outstanding virtues of the new chief which could have prompted many high-ranking personalities from all walks of life especially from far away in Europe, Asia and America countries to join him in the Iwuye Ceremony. Describing him as a refined man who is found of unprecedented antecedents.

This was thereafter follow by an Artiste Night as a way of promoting culture and indigenous talented-artistes. The program witnessed massive attendance of Nigerian legendary theatre practitioners and local musicians like Lere Paimo, Olatunbosun Odunsi, Samsom Eluwole (Jinadu Ewele), Ayo Ogunsina, Adeosun Alerat, Mikail Ariyo, Elebute Yusuf, Oyewole Olorunmojuore, Toyin Oladiran, Abefe Befentin, Soko among others.

The ground finale of the epoch Iwuye Ceremony featured cultural procession on Saturday,June 18,2022 from Chief Saloro residence through the Market Square to the palace of Elegboro of Ijebu Jesa, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, Abikehin-Ekun, Agunsoye II where family, friends, and admirers of the celebrant from far and near came out en-masse to identify with him. Fervent prayers were also offered for the celebrant, peace and progress of Ijebu Jesa, Osun State and Nigeria at large.

Ijebu Jesa Town Hall was filled to its brim with the presence of traditional rulers, legend thespians and other notable dignitaries within and outside the shore of Nigeria who came to felicitate with the new Saloro.

In his citation, Prince Koya Arojojoye described High Chief Smith Ajifowobaje as a man of sincerity, purpose, vision, love, humility, passion, hospitality and selfless service. He pointed out various unimaginable instances of selflessness and philanthropic gestures of the celebrant dated as far as twenty years to people of different colour, background and religion. Many of whom have today become notable business tycoons, great scholars and highly successful entertainers.

In their separate goodwill messages, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye, Elegboro of Ijebu Jesa, HRM Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe, Owaloko of Iloko Ijesa, HRM Oba (Dr) Ashiru Olatoye, Olobu of Ilobu and many other traditional rulers all lauded the genuineness and Omoluabi ethos of Chief Ajifowobaje with an admonition to him to sustain the good deeds. They appealed to him to use his international connections and experiences to bring massive human and capital developments to his community.

Also speaking were the chairman of the occasion, Hon. Wole Oke of the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Host, Hon. Bunmi Obeisun, Chairman Oriade Local Government, Alhaji Abdulmojeed Bangboye (Araba), Mr Yemi Fasoyin and Prince Albert Adeyemi who promised UK visa-free for all intending Ijesa North traditional heads on behalf of High Chief Smith Ajifowobaje.

The highly elated attendees were entertained with Ikoko Cultural Music and panegyric.

Recalled that High Chief Smith Olamilekan Olabisi Olaleye Ajifowobaje was installed as Saloro of Ijebu Jesa on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 with investiture rites fully performed but the Iwuye Ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19 guidelines prohibiting mass gathering.

High Chief Smith Olamilekan Olabisi Olaleye Ajifowobaje is the Otunba of Iloro Ekiti, Saloro of Ijebu Jesa and Aro designate of llobu as announced by His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Ashiru Olatoye, Olobu of Ilobu.

He is a United Kingdom based mental health specialist, iconic actor and culture enthusiast.
