ELEGBORO BAGS ‘PEACE AMBASSADOR AWARD’

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has conferred the Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye with the Peace Ambassador Award.

The monarch was presented the award at an event held at the Command’s headquarters in Osogbo on Tuesday to mark the 2021 International Day of Peace.

In his opening remarks, the State Commandant of the corps, Mr Emmanuel Ocheja noted that there is no alternative to peace. He stressed the need for every citizen to work for, and allow peace to reign in every home which he believes will be cascaded to the larger society. He further admonished the need to always seek alternative dispute resolutions in all situations.

While conferring the award on the Elegboro, the NSCDC boss noted that cognisance was taken of the monarch’s peaceful disposition to critical issues, as well as ensuring peaceful coexistence in his domain.

The Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, HRM Oba Olusayo Akeem Ogungbangbe, and Chief John Ike, a business mogul were also conferred with the Peace Ambassador Award.

Speaking with newsmen after the event, the Elegboro eulogized the security agency for recognising the critical roles played by the traditional institutions in ensuring peace and unity in the society.

He emphasized the critical roles of the traditional rulers in resolving many issues within their domains without getting to the security operatives. He added that the award will motivate them to do more in ensuring an environment void of crisis and uproar.

The International Day of Peace is celebrated annually on 21st September to re-echo the need for peace in society.
