The Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye has eulogised the spirit of giving back to the community exhibited by Chief Olushola Alabi, the Oluomo of Egboro kingdom.
The monarch and other eminent citizens of the community showered praises on the Oluomo on Friday 7th May, 2021 during the official commissioning of the newly renovated water system at the Ijebu-Jesa General Hospital.
Speaking at the event held at the premises of the General Hospital, the Abikehin-Ekun Agunsoye II noted that such efforts are morale booster for others to contribute their own quotas to the growth and development of the community. He pointed that water is very essential to life and the activities of the health facility.
While praying for the Oluomo for progress and upliftment, the traditional ruler noted that the other areas of the hospital needs will be attended to. He therefore called on other indigenes of Ijebu-Jesa to take up other developmental projects noting that every efforts will be duly appreciated.
In his own remarks, a visibly elated Global President of the Ijebu-Jesa Unions’ Conference (IJUC), Engr. Oluwagbemiga Abudiore praised Chief Alabi for embarking on such life saving project. He opined that there is no alternative to water, saying that water is not only essential, but also crucial to life and existence.
The Global President took time to read out other needs of the hospital which includes staffing, security, consumables like protective kits, surgical gloves, face masks among other things.
Chief Olushola Alabi took time to appreciate the Kabiyesi and other dignitaries present. He gave a brief rundown of how the project came to be. He stressed that he had only intended to replace the water closets and washing hand basins in the hospital’s conveniences, only to be told afterwards that water supply to the offices no longer work. This led to the renovation and replacement of damaged galvanised pipes used before now.
He added that his philanthropic gestures were born out of the realisation that whoever he is able to impact positively is a neighbour who deserves to be taken care of. This he said was part of the idea behind the annual scholarship programme sponsored by his ABC Foundation for over two decades running.
The Oluomo took time to applaud the Kabiyesi for his motivating roles, while he appreciates the leadership styles of the IJUC President who he noted was always keeping those in the diasporas abreast of happenings back home.
The resident doctor led the Elegboro and other dignitaries on the tour of the renovated facilities for the commissioning.
Present at the event was His Royal Highness Oba Joseph Adebisi Owoeye, the Olodogo of Odogo-Ijesa, Olori Omolara Agunsoye, members of the Elegboro-in-Council led by the Sajiku, Barr. Muyiwa Ojolo, Mrs Abioye Folorunso and members of staff of the General Hospital.
