The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu-Jesa Chapter rounded up her annual New Year Prayer Week with an inter-denominational prayer service at the Ijebu-Jesa Town Hall on Saturday 8th January 2022.

The annual event commenced on January 3rd with the prayer train moving from church to church from 5am daily.

Traditionally, the prayer week is organised annually by CAN at the beginning of the year to offer series of prayers for the town and individuals. The central theme for this year’s edition is “God, Our Help”.

In his brief but power-packed sermon, Pastor A.A. Ojeniran of The Apostolic Church, Ogbon-Titun, Ijebu-Jesa, admonished residents to keep their faith alive in God as a present help in time of need.

Speaking at the event, the Olodogo of Odogo-Ijesa, HRH Oba Adebisi Owoeye asked residents to be wary of their actions and inactions in the new year.

On his part, Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, HRM Oba (Engr.) Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye noted that this is an election year in Osun State, therefore there is a need to be extra careful in our activities. He urged parents to be vigilant and talk more to their children and wards against being used by politicians to foment troubles.

The monarch also warned family heads and everyone involved in arbitrary selling of family lands to supposed gold miners. He noted that such actions are inimical to the growth of the community. He added that such lands on which the crude miners perpetuate their activities could be destroyed for as long as 100 years or more, thereby destroying the future of the children unborn. He admonished parents to always bring such interested buyers to the palace for proper scrutiny.

Various prayers were offered for peace, progress, and God’s favour for the year. Music was supplied by CAN Mass Choir.
